Audi R8 V10: 2010 World Performance Car Of The Year audi r8 coty

Fortunately when it comes to performance cars, the guys who are responsible for choosing the world car do a much better job! This year they’ve announced the Audi R8 V10 as the 2010 world performance car of the year. Actually it’s the second timeAudi R8 is honored as the WPCOTY, as the R8 V8 won it in 2008. With its 552 hp 5.2 liter TFSI V10 engine, the R8 does 0 to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 196mph.

The Audi R8 has been named 2010 World Performance Car at the World Car of the Year Awards ceremony at the New York Auto Show. This is the second time that the R8 has won the World Performance Car award: the V8-powered R8 took this award in 2008.

The World Car Awards jurors observed that: “In the opinion of many on theWorld Car Awards jury, Audi has at long last satisfied our hunger for a street car that lives up to the excitement of the original Le Mans series-dominating R8 LMP1 race car.”

Developed jointly with quattro GmbH, the Audi R8 V10 is powered by a 5.2 litre direct injection ten-cylinder engine which develops 525PS, enabling it to sprint from zero to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds and then to a top speed of 196mph. It features Audi technologies such as quattro permanent all-wheel drive, a lightweight aluminium body and innovative all-LED lights.

This is the second World Performance Car award win for the Audi R8: the original V8-powered version won the same award in 2008. Whether a customer chooses an R8 with a V8 or a V10 engine, they will get a World Performance Car award winner.

This is also the third Word Performance Car award for Audi in the five years that the award has been on offer: the RS 4 was named as the 2007 World Performance Car.

The truly global nature of the World Car jury is evidence that Audi is hitting theperformance car sweet spot of car lovers around the world.

Since the awards began, Audi has claimed one overall award and five category awards:

Vorsteiner Aero Kit For BMW X6M Vorsteiner BMW X6M 1

It’s time for Vorsteiner to reveal their package for the BMW X6M and they’ve come up with a subtle aerodynamic kit for this monstrous SUV. In fact at first glance you wouldn’t notice any part of this kit but if you look closer you realize that it has a new front spoiler, modified hood with vents in it, a roof spoiler, a deck lid spoiler and a big rear diffuser.

And yes, the whole kit is made of carbon fiber. What’s more Vorsteiner says that the new add-on front spoiler increases front-end downforce, enhancing performance and presence and that the new hood is 40 percent lighter than the stock one. well, yes because you’ve cut some bits of it!

The last part of this package is the 23-inch One-Piece Forged V-102 Wheels which come in a Satin Brushed Aluminum finish and are wrapped in Michelin tires.

700 hp Audi RS6

700 hp Audi RS6 by APS Sportec sportec audi rs 1

Sportec is one of the finest Swiss tuners, but this Audi you see here is a work of APS of Brackley, their UK importer. The car is the Audi RS6 Avant, which comes as standard with a 5.0 liter twin-turbo V10 and it’s one of the most bonkers estate cars in the market today. Nevertheless, the tuners offer two performance upgrade packages which make it go off the hook.

You see the stock RS6 has 572bhp (426 kW) and 479lb.ft of torque, but thanks to some upgrades for the car’s ECU, ignition, fueling and exhaust system, APS can easily take it up to 650 hp and 740Nm (540lb.ft) of torque. With this package the RS6 can go from zero to 62 mph in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.

If that’s not enough for you, then go for the stage two, in which you get 700 hp and 800Nm (584lb.ft) of peak torque. The effect of this added power is not that drastic on performance as the acceleration time is 4.2 seconds, and the top speed remains the same 190 mph.

Pricing for the stage 1 is £2800, while the pointless stage 2 costs a whopping £6500. APS says that upgrades for suspension and brakes will be available in the coming months, which raises the question did they just increased the power without doing anything about those things?!

2010 Toyota Land Cruiser

2010 Toyota Land Cruiser By Delta 4x4 Delta 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 1

Europeans don’t like the Toyota Land Cruiser maybe because it’s too big for their taste, and that’s why there are not that many tuning packages for this car. In fact the only one worth mentioning is the WALD’s kit but that doesn’t count because that tuner is form Japan! Now though a German tuner has come up with something for it.

We are talking about the Delta 4×4. They give the Land Cruiser a bunch of new bits in hope to make it more interesting. The car gets revised bumpers which are protected by steel bars in front and rear. There’s also steel side steps and chrome exhaust pipes here.

The Cruiser’s ground clearance is also improved thanks to Delta’s 23-inch wheels which can be had in different designs with 305/40 tires.

Because this package is for the Europe, they’ve picked the diesel variant which is powered by a V8 engine developing 286 hp and 650 nm of torque, and then tuned it up to 322 hp and 720 nm.

Delta also offer a high performance braking package to cope with the extra power, but at 6660 Euros it’s not worth it. I’d rather crash!

Press Release:

Dubai, 12 May 2009: Burj Al Arab, the World’s Most Luxurious Hotel and recognised as the symbol of Dubai, has today received four new bespoke model Phantom Rolls-Royce’s into its already extensive luxury vehicle range.

The Rolls-Royce chauffeur service allows guests of the hotel to arrive in truly unique style and has proven to be incredibly popular. As a result of the increasing demand for this service, the iconic hotel has enlarged the fleet of Phantoms to ten – all of which have custom-made features specifically crafted to reflect the unique opulence of the hotel.

The chauffeur driven models were borne out of the Bespoke Programme by Rolls-Royce, a method that allows customers to create their perfect car, designed and built to their exact specification.

Inspiration for the new models was derived from the character and culture of Burj Al Arab itself, capturing the precise individual detailing reflective of the hotel’s spirit and status. The resulting interior boasts Grecian key marquetry applied to the wood veneer, with the distinctive Burj al Arab logo embroidered into the leather headrests. The colour scheme and the marquetry combine to represent the magnificence and tranquillity of the hotel.

“We are extremely excited by the arrival of the new Phantoms, as we expect our guests will be. Our guests have long since enjoyed the chauffeur service as an essential part of their Burj Al Arab luxury experience and these additions will further enhance their experience.” Commented Heinrich Morio, General Manager of Burj Al Arab; in respect to the bespoke detailing he continued; “Unique detailing is a defining feature of Burj Al Arab and in line with Jumeirah Group’s philosophy that luxury is a personalised, individual quality”.

The handover of the Phantoms was attended by Peter Schoppmann, Regional Director of Rolls-Royce for the Middle East, and Stathis I. Stathis, representing AGMC, the sole dealer of the brand in Dubai and Sharjah. Schoppmann said “The Burj al Arab stands for the ultimate in luxury and has become a globally recognised landmark. As such we are delighted to have strengthened our relationship with this iconic destination.”

The Rolls-Royce chauffeur service is one of the many luxurious touches that complement a guest’s stay at the all-suite Burj Al Arab.
